The Social Action Club’s Thanksgiving Food Drive was an amazing success! We collected over 900 non-perishable food items in one week! Congratulations to 5B for collecting the most items. We are now beginning our Toys for Tots toy drive. Please donate a new unwrapped toy to help a local family. This toy drive will run from 11/27/2017 – 12/6/2017. Your donations are greatly appreciated!
The NJHS is very busy! We have begun our hot chocolate stand and will be selling hot chocolate on days four and six. A cup of hot chocolate costs one dollar and toppings are 25 cents each. Please buy a cup and help us support worthy charities like Habitat for Humanity. Many NJHS members are also providing peer tutoring for 5th and 6th graders. Finally, we are busy planning our March Madness event – stay tuned!
The school follows the “no school” announcements made by the Town of Barnstable when there is a storm or other natural occurrence that may force the closing of schools. The school uses an automated system which provides for all parents to receive telephone calls in the case of a weather or other emergency, school cancellation during the day, or other general information. Each student must know what to do and where to go should school be dismissed early due to an emergency or weather-related situation. Since our student population encompasses many towns other than Barnstable, parents are always free to use their own good judgement in determining whether travel conditions are safe for the trip to school. If school is canceled in your town, parents may wish to follow their town’s pattern by not sending their child to school. The school respects such parental discretion.
